Sharon's profileSharon has worked within marketing and communications for the past 10 years and started her career after graduating from Brunel University. Her first role was to implement a marketing function as the Marketing and PR Manager in line with the business plan for Eurocell Profiles Ltd an ambitious and market leading manufacturer of plastic building materials and window profiles. Her responsibilities included B2B direct marketing and sales support, identifying media contacts, supporting customers on media development, implementing and analysing results driven advertising campaigns, trade exhibition organisation, launching new products and managing external design agencies. Her career then led her to the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector with Stelux Watch UK ltd (part of Stelux Holdings International Ltd based in Hong Kong) as Brand Manager at the UK head office in Burton on Trent. The company was responsible for the UK distribution of various watch brands including adidas, Ellesse, Universal Genève and Everlast before the UK office was absorbed back to Hong Kong. This role included direct reporting to Managing Director and Brand Director, management of POS (point-of-sale) merchandising, staff incentives, and public competitions, delivery of media plans, competitor analysis and market research. Following this Sharon then moved to Derby Cityscape Ltd (Derby’s Urban Regeneration Company, URC) as Communications Manager with full accountability within this senior marketing communications role. As a public sector organisation she worked closely with partners including East Midlands Development Agency (emda), Derby City Council (DCC), English Partnerships (EP), Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) and Marketing Derby. Sharon’s responsibilities grew with the organisation and reporting directly to the Chief Executive her main role was to develop and deliver a communication strategy in line with the business plan, direct contact with national and local media, project management on both local and corporate affairs, management of multiple public relations and design agencies. Her duties also extended to managing intense public and developer consultations, presentation development and delivery to various audiences ranging from the general public to business leaders and government officials. Sharon also had full responsibility for website management, identifying key stakeholders implementing customer relationship techniques (CRM).
Sharon is an enthusiastic professional marketer with a wealth of knowledge and aims to de-mystify the marketing dictionary usually associated within this industry – it is about results not jargon.
